Year 3 had a fantastic trip to Flag Fen! During their visit, the children took part in a handling activity, exploring artefacts from the past. They enjoyed creating rock art using natural materials and even had a go at building a wattle and daub wall.
Later, the children used their creativity to make their own Stone Age pots before setting off on a journey through a prehistoric landscape. Along the way, they practised stalking prey and discovered how people adapted to their changing environment thousands of years ago.
The highlight of the day was stepping inside two roundhouses, where the children imagined what life would have been like in the Stone Age. It was a memorable day of learning and adventure!
Year 3 have been learning about rocks. They tested whether they could identify a rock as limestone or chalk. Working together in small groups, they dropped vinegar onto different rocks and observed the reaction.
If the rock was limestone or chalk, the children would have expected to see fizzing and frothing as the vinegar reacted to the calcium carbonate within the rock to produce carbon dioxide.
Year 3 created some spooktacular Halloween inspired drawings.
