Oxford Reading Buddy
We are delighted to tell you that our school is now using Oxford Reading Buddy. This is a digital reading service to support children’s reading development at home as well as at school.
Oxford Reading Buddy contains hundreds of digital books and book quizzes all matched to your child’s reading ability. Children can earn badges for good reading behaviours, be coached in their understanding by their personal ‘Reading Buddy’, take quizzes and record all the reading they do. Everything is captured so that your child’s teacher can see how they’re getting on. The children will be awarded badges for their commitment and progress.
Please log in to Oxford Reading Buddy when your child brings home their sign-in card and have a look around the website. Do encourage your child to use it regularly and discuss what they are reading with you. There are some coaching eBooks which teach comprehension and associated reading skills. These are great coaching eBooks because Reading Buddy will model how to support and encourage these skills as they read.
When your child is taking a quiz, please try to provide a quiet workspace for them. It is important for them to complete the quizzes independently because their answers will help your child’s teacher understand their needs.
If you don’t have a tablet or PC at home, the service works on smartphone as well.
Oxford Reading Buddy is currently in the BETA trial stage and as such you may experience some issues. If you do have any problems or glitches with it, please let us know so that we can pass this on to Oxford Reading Buddy. Send an email to: office@glebelands.cambs.sch.uk with the subject ‘Reading Buddy’ and explain the issue. This will enable them to improve their service to us.

Glebelands Friends Virtual Christmas Fayre
Friday 4th December to Friday 11th December
This year our Christmas Fayre will be a virtual one. It will last for a week, so this will give you a chance to browse the various ‘stalls’ and try the competitions and activities. We will send you more details shortly.
We would really appreciate any donations such as chocolates, bottles, smellies, festive goods …
Please bring these donations into class where there will
be a box waiting for them!
Please bring in any donations by Monday 30th November.
Many thanks
This year children will move up to the next year group as whole classes. Please find attached a table which shows which teacher your child will be with from September. A school map showing where the classroom will be has been posted on Facebook. Please note that this also indicates the one way system which will still be in operation and must be adhered to. More detailed information will follow once it has been approved by the Trust board.
Your child's new teacher will be in touch later today (via Starz) to introduce themselves. The children will also be given a small task to complete.

Update on Public Health Position for Cambridgeshire and Peterborough / Test and Track
Cambridgeshire and Peterborough LA's have produced a website with helpful advice to the public on Test and Track. In addition, there is a simple guide to the test and trace process can be found here and a number of video / documents that have been translated into other languages – more are coming so keep visiting the website -
Translations - Lithuanian / Polish / Russian / UrduAs of now, our school is closed. We have instantly become a childcare facility for the children of key workers who will be working hard through this difficult period to keep this country running and ultimately defeat the Coronavirus. We will try to continue to give you ideas for educational entertainment of your children for as long as we can but sadly, this is no longer our core purpose. We hope that we will all see each other soon and that you all stay healthy and safe. If you are in need of help, please contact us and we will do everything we can to direct support your way.
