Welcome back Year 4!  We hope you have had a wonderful summer and are looking forward to the new academic year. Just a couple of reminders:

PE will be on Wednesdays and Thursdays. Please ensure that you have a clean PE kit at the beginning of each week at school. Earrings are not allowed to be worn for PE and so we ask that children do not come into school wearing earrings on these days.

Please also ensure that children have a healthy snack for break time. This should be a piece of fruit, vegetable or cheese. Please do not send children in with crisps, biscuits or other unhealthy snacks and please ensure that all food sent into school is nut free.

Children are expected to read for 20 minutes a day at home and record this in their reading records. These should be brought into school daily. Spelling homework will usually be given out on Monday ready for testing on Fridays. Please encourage your child to practise their spellings regularly so they become confident with the spelling rule or pattern. Times tables are an essential part of learning in year 4, with the expectation that children will be able to recall rapidly all of their times tables up to 12 x 12 by the end of the year. We will be working with the children on this at school but children will also be expected to practise these at home, including spending at least 25 mins a week practising these facts on Times Table Rockstars.

We are really looking forward to a great year. Please do come and speak to us if you have any questions or concerns.

Best wishes

The Year 4 Team
